Scalia: Federal Drug Laws Were a Mistake
| Quote: |
| "It was a great mistake to put routine drug offenses into the federal courts," he told the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday. The Wall Street Journal went on to report Scalia's belief that the laws forced Congress to enlarge the federal court system, and diminished "the elite quality of the federal judiciary." |
Go to the link for a discussion of how nationalizing trivial offenses has harmed the entire Federal judiciary. |

The right keeps trying to paint him as some socialist, liberal guy and he's been fairly centrist. There is a reason the left are not happy with him.
In any event, I think eventually pot at least will become legal in some manner or form. If the economy continues to be stagnant and the government, both state and federal get more desperate for money, they'll see the tax revenue potential of it.
The generation that grew up with pot being demonized is dying out. The Vietnam generation and later have a different view of pot. Time will tell, but I'd bet it will become more accessibe legally. |

That won't happen until we elect people who make moral issues State issues.
I have a strong feeling Obama recently got a BIG campaign contribution from the alcohol lobby. Why else would he needlessly alienate his pro-legalization supporters? |
