I am Australian. This is how much it cost me to prepare the documentation and apply from my home country:

-Notarisation of degree by a lawyer (before apostille): $80
-Apostille of degree: $60
-Postage: $6
-Federal Police Check: $43
-Police Check Apostille: $60
-Passport photos: $12
-Express mail to Korea: $42.40
-Consular fee (visa processing): $120
-Postage: $18.40

I'm probably erring on the side of caution here; i.e., there were probably other costs I have absorbed and not realised.

Curious, does everyone pay this much?

EDIT: Aussie dollar is slightly above parity with the USD, but fluctuates. Today it is 1USD = 1.02AUD

I live in the States-

notarize degree: $5
state apostille of degree: $15

FBI CBC: $18 (though takes FOREVER to get back 8+ weeks)
federal apostille: $8

postage for inside the country probably equals to $20

transcripts: $15

thats all i can remember right now
seems like cheaper in the US. though that FBI check will snuff your chances of getting hired if it takes too long (if you're applying through EPIK)

Hey hey!
Which state are you from? You can get your documents notorised at many police stations for free. Most will have a lawyer in 2-3 days a week for two hours. Completely free.
Next time, check online. Wink

What about your living expenses while you wait around, unemployed for bits of paper?
What about your travel costs to get all this done?
And all the other expenses that you get simply because you have to gather all this claptrap.

Your final total sounds like a pretty big under-estimate.

Hhhm... I suppose I could have factored in my HECS fees as well Wink

No, I wouldn't mind, but the fact that I can't use any of it again irks me somewhat.

That's no one else's fault but your own. If you want to work in Korea, get a part-time job, at least, until you get your visa processed. I don't like it anymore than you do, but to stop working completely is idiotic at best.
