|
|
I've been in Korea for two years now teaching Kindergarten in a Hagwon. As much as I love kids, my soul is in danger of leaving my body permanently. My friend taught business students for almost a year, and he suggested I try that if I want to teach more advanced english. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, what kind of requirements are usually desired?
Thanks for any help!

| The ability to go with less sleep. Adult hagwons are always looking for teachers who are willing to put up with split shifts. One year of that and you could very likely move on to a college or Uni job. |

from what i understand, a full time gig teaching adults is tough to find. usually you have to pick up several part time gigs to fill in your schedule.
and what Skippy said - if you do find a full time gig it will be split shift.
but really? one year of this and you can get a Uni job?! hmmm.. would you need any other qualifications? i heard that for Uni jobs you need at least a Masters and a few years of teaching under your belt. |

I said likely. Plus the OP already has some experience. Some school will accept a BA/BS with a couple years experience. Yet with the market as it is there are more Master's to choose from.
So with one year adult hagwon and boots in Korea and everything ready, the person could get a Uni job as a second tier hire or last minute hire. |
