I searched for threads on this topic so that I could just add this information to an ongoing thread. However, the search did not seem to provide anything germane. So, here's my FYI, for anyone trying to fix an inexpensive belt, which I figure would be less than the 100,000 won. Anything more than that, I would talk to your nearest, upscale tailor and get a skilled leather worker.
So, last year, I bought these belts in Doota for about 60,000 won a piece. They aren't fancy belts to be sure, but they work fine for jeans, casual wear, etc. Being Doota, it's not the fanciest nor the cheapest, plus what's great is that some of the designs are done by small, independent shops, so they can show more flights of fancy and quirks in the details.
Anyway, being rawhide leather, after a year, these belts stretched to where they were not so suitable. Basically, being stretched over time they did not have their first true fit. So, I searched high and low among the various shops of Dongdaemun, thinking that anybody in the industry would at least know of a reputed person who could do it in a knick of time. Well, things being what they are, my search wasn't so easy. To make it easy for you, I'm providing the info. Once again, this repair is for the cheaper belts where you can take the buckle part off by undoing the screw.
Go to Migliore, Basement B2, next to the the Lotteria. If you come in through the main entrance, think of the shop as being immediately underneath, down two floors. The shop is sort of like a small shack. However, the man did the service intelligently, swiftly, and exactingly. Four belts resized, in less than 20 minutes, 12,000 won. Now, I can keep using my tried and true belts for regular occasions, and use a better portion of money for a more serious business attire belt.
Go out of Dongdaemun History and Culture Park subway stop exit 14. Go past Good Morning City and Hello apM on your left. The next building is Migliore.
Like I said, you think such a simple repair would be easy, but none of my neighborhood mom-n-pop tailors would do it, nor were any of the shoe people equipped. So best bet: go to the clothing district, Dongdaemun.
simple topic, looong post, but hope it helps. |
