How long is a piece of string?
Of the various blogs each have the good points and bad.
I like Gusts of Popular Opinion but is more about history, foreigners in Korea history, and media a little. Good for getting an idea of Korea attitudes towards foreigners.
Various others that talk about general life in Korea like "Geek in Korea" or "Eat Your Kimichi"
Others are just news and info repost places with commentary life "Marmot's Hole" or "Rok Drop"
Some are more indepth about life or social commentary like "Scribblings of the Metropolicatian" or "Ask a Korean"
For start I would try http://koreannewsfeeds.com/ Start there and find some that you like. |

The only blog ever written about South Korea actually worth reading has sadly disappeared. An Idiot's Tale, RIP. |

i personally enjoyed reading expat hell (http://www.expathell.com/) one of the few blog who has posts from people who get it here.
a nice change of pace from all those "i'm super traveler dude who wears cargo shorts wherever i go" hack jobs. the number of blogs you have to weed through to find something not written by a complete dork with no clue about the world is a bit depressing (and this is coming from a self-proclaimed nerd). |

I second expat's hell. The guy who writes it is genuinely funny and it's a nice change of pace from Korean news commentary and random newbie travel blogs. It's also not a hate on Korea fest. His recent updates haven't been great, but if you dig back there's a lot of gold. |

Sherlock swine who senses that this thread might be linked to this topic?
How much is the reward for 'grassing' on someone that is doing 'paid' extra work on the side?
I guess only koreans can claim it anyways?
Otherwise could a foreigner that 'told' on another foreigner to claim the reward money, then be arrested for taking said reward money as a second stream of income?
That would be genius on K immi's part! |

Then he got angry and religious (as weird as that combo is). |

Yeah, it was a good read till he started writing about economics all the time instead of his day to day life observations. The guy had a good sense of humor about himself. |

I wouldn't recomend a blog unless it had at least one of the either a Seoul pun or a reference to Kimchee in it's name. Without that I wouldn't know if I was reading about Korea would I? |

Blackout Korea? Was that the blog with the witless dipshits posing for photos beside drunk Korean dudes laid out on the floor? That basic premise was enough to deter me from reading it. |

You should check out the couple hundred blogs that all feature the authors: eating wiggling octupus, visiting the Noryangin Fish Market, riding the subway, or walking through Itaewon. In fact, that's all any blogger should cover. Make it so. |

The only ones I check out regularly are The Marmot's Hole, Koreabeat and Daehanmindecline; I occasionally read The Metropolitician, ROK Drop, The Brian Deutsch one (hardly updated these days) and because it's so poorly written and has the most pompous 'writer' out there, Roboseyo.
Not familiar with Expat Hell, will check it out. |
