I know a friend who reportedly did this and was wondering what the visa you would receive? A company wants to hire me, but I don't meet the e-7 requirements exactly(5+ years experience in the field). However, they have branches in America and believe a transfer would be easy to get approved instead of applying for a normal e-7 visa as an outside hire.

D-7 visa is available for intra-company transfers, however one of the requirements is that you have worked for the company for at least one year. I don't know what sort of proof they require, and it may be easy for the company to simply lie about that if they really want to hire you..... however, it will be pretty easy for immigration to know you weren't working for them when they see in their records that you've been in Korea on an E-2.
