| How much in fees do Korean banks charge when you use your Korean bank ATM card overseas? |

| No I'm pretty sure my Korean ATM card will work overseas. I got it from Daegu Bank and the manager assured me it would work. Now I've never actually used it so I have to take his word for it, but I've never had any problems. I have a F-5 visa so I get the same treatment at the bank that regular Koreans do. The card has the Maestro & Cirrus symbols on the back. |

| I have a Daegu bank account as well and they coded my card for overseas use and I have used it overseas. The total fees depends on where you use it and the country. For example, when I was in Thailand it was 150 baht at some ATMs on average. Roughly 30 baht to a dollar so do the math. I had two ATM cards from them and sent one to my brother in America to withdraw money to pay bills. He had receipts showing as anywhere from $3 to $5 depending on the bank. |

I have a Korean card that will work overseas. Actually, I have two. One still works from before the ban on giving foreigners ATM cards went into effect (the one the gov't claims is not real, yet we all know is alive and well).
I've become such a tightwad that I try to avoid using it for any reason, because fees are so high. The USA fees are getting insane (it's about $5 in my hometown area now -- just to USE an ATM card at some malls -- BEFORE Korean fees). After I saw that, I put my card back in my wallet and vowed never to use it again unless there was an emergency.
I now bring a wad of cash with me. The banks can shove it. |

Before you use a K-ATM card overseas, you have to sign some paperwork to 'activate it' to work abroad at your bank, basically agreeing not to withdraw over 50 million won in any given year. They take a copy of your passport and ID card, too, even though it is an international debit card. I have to do this every year. No activation=not working. (at least that's the policy with Kookmin) |

Hana bank cards work with TD Canada trust ATMs as they are affiliates. I just had to get cash from my bank in Korea and it worked. It was a direct transaction. TD Canada trust handles all wire transactions from Korea to Canada. |

There was one bank in Thailand (forget the name) - Yellow signage though, that allowed free money withdrawal's
It was obs one of the 'big' Thai banks though as I remember the banks and street ATM's were everywhere!
Look out for yellow atm's

Just because you are F-5 doesnt mean you get the same treatment as other koreans. lol Maybe they are just trying to avoid any situation like the current sauna one that is on the news. And Ive seen banks assure something and it turn out to be false so id be aware of things in the first place |
