For you boxing enthusiasts or people who are looking for something to do this weekend, there's a Korea vs Japan boxing event this Saturday at Jongno.
The event starts at 12pm.
Tickets are 10,000won a piece.
It will also be aired live on MBC Sports.
All fights are going to have a Korean fighter against a Japanese fighter. All fighters are "rookies" meaning they have had very few fights and are going to be four rounders except for the main event, which will be 6 rounds.
The Korean guy fighting in the main event is from my gym.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Japanese win most of the fights since Japan has a very high level of boxing.

Sorry, should've had that info on the first post. The fight will take place on the 3rd floor 종로 중구 구민회관 which is here

I got confused with the location so it turns out its in Jongno, not dongdaemun. Also the main event isn't 5 rounds, its 6. A guy at gym swore it was 5 but I didn't that made sense since 5 rounders aren't common. Also the event starts at 12, but the broadcast starts at 1. The poster I saw wasn't clear about that.
There isn't a way to buy the ticket before hand but they this site
http://cafe.naver.com/ringside.cafe?iframe_url=/ArticleRead.nhn%3Farticleid=13378&
says you can reserve a ticket if you wire them money and you'll get the ticket when you to the event. You can also buy tickets at the weigh-ins the day before the event. Your best bet is to buy a ticket at the event.
Also, when you guy a ticket it says they will give you a little Korean flag to cheer with, and the tickets will come with a winner predictions checkbox. If all your predictions are correct, you'll get a free autographed boxing glove. |
