I downloaded and have been listening to this file for the last few weeks as I drive to work. Presently, I am at 110 (starting from number one and working to number 500). It is the second time I have listened to the top 100, but I have enjoyed the experience far more this time. Of course, I have some issues with the list (or any such list), like should "best of" albums be included (eg. Legend by Bob Marley) or box sets, like James Brown's Star Time, and really how is one "5 star" album better than another?

But I digress, here are a few of my thoughts so far:

- The Beatles' White Album is amazing.
- Thriller has not aged well at all, but the Joshua Tree has. I thought Off the Wall was a better album, than Thriller. Also, Purple Rain is still great.
- The Who were an outstanding band (Who's Next and Tommy really surprised me).
- Forever Changes by Love was way ahead of its time - The Red Telephone is a strange and wonderful song.
- The Velvet Underground's debut and Loaded are sublime.
- Simon and Garfunkle's Bridge over Troubled Water, The Who's Tommy and Patti Smith's Horses surprised me the most.
- The Rolling Stones bluesy era (early 70's) was impressive - Sister Morphine is my current favorite song.
For most people these thoughts fit into the "water is wet and ice is cold" file, but if you any input on the RS 500 or any "classic albums" post away.

Where did you download it. Is it all 500 albums on one file?

That, and MP3 files are rubbish. Sure, I download like a fiend, if I like it, I'll buy the vinyl or CD.

Anyway, those albums in the OP aren't worth buying, let alone listening to.

It's not stealing; it's buying without paying. BTW, how did you watch Breaking Bad? On a torrent?

And I pieced most of it together from various torrents that were in blocks of 50, but I think most have since gone dead.

Metalhead, if you hate those albums, you'd really love my favorite genre - 80's synth pop; so if you need me to recommend some classics from that genre, let me know.

How do you buy something without paying? Buying means to give and receive payment.

I'll have to check out Rolling Stone's top 500 list. If it's anything like their list of top guitarists, then I'm sure it's a joke.

I do like White Album, too, but there sure is a lot of filler on it. It's like the Use Your Illusion II of Beatles CD's. (But I guess that since The Beatles were out first, then Use Your Illusion II is G n' R's White Album.)

On the AMC channel as we're most fans in North America. Laughing

You stole because you could and feel entitled to do so.

You are obviously in NA, which I am not, so I don't have the opportunity to watch AMC - that is unless you are "stealing" it through internet TV. As for the latter, well, I think you underestimate how cheap I am.

Why are you going from 1 to 500? Doesn't it make sense to go the other way? Also, I totally disagree about Thriller.

Patti Smith's Horses is the amazing and I will kick anyone in the shin who says otherwise. She should be considered Rock N' Roll royalty.
