Hi, has everyone ever heard of/ worked at this branch of Topia.

Dobong is in the northern part of Seoul, yes? I'm not so picky about location, but don't want to get trapped in a nightmare hagwon.

Thanks,

Colin

There are reviews of several TOPIAs here: http://hagwon.reliableteacher.com/category/topia-ez/

I'm not sure if any of these are the same branch as the one you're considering, but this could be a good starting point.

Personally I'd advise anyone on the job hunt to steer clear of the Topia chain except as an absolute last resort. The general policy appears to be to suck as much life and spirit out of the staff and students as possible. Endless negative reinforcement, threats, a mountain of pointless paperwork and unsatisfying teaching - forcing the students to complete an impossible amount of work every class. "25 pages in a 50 minute class? It is not a problem for other teachers. Maybe you need more training or a better work ethic!"
I'm sure not all branches of this franchise are created equal, but I have a sneaking suspicion I was at one of the "better" ones and it was still by a long shot the worst, most depressing work environment I was ever subjected to in Korea.
Don't waste your life in such a place.
