I just wanted to know what the application process is like for public schools in Korea these days? Just how fiendishly complex is it? Is it like something out of a Kafka novel?
What is it like now to apply for jobs with GEPIK or EPIK? I tried to apply for a job outside Seoul a couple of years ago. Getting the criminal record check was easy: I have no criminal record. But the apostilles took a while. Even so I got them. The difficult issue was that in addition to letters from 2 or 3 references which I did have, they wanted other letters from previous employers(letters I could not produce), and they needed the extra references, they said, to pay me more. I said that I couldn't guarantee the extra references. Having experience made the process harder.
Then I fell ill and couldn't make the deadline. My kOREAN visa was cancelled and I got a job elsewhere.
But would it be worthwhile to apply again at some point? Is the process now even harder? I don't have to work in Seoul? Gyeong gi Do would do. |

Seems that there is more competition these days than years before. If you want a better shot at a position I'd definitely suggest EPIK over GEPIK because GEPIK has been through changes and probably won't have anywhere near the same amount of positions they've had open in the past.
But I'd suggest applying soon, they started accepting applications for EPIK October 1st. Placement would be in Seoul or outside of Gyeonggi-do. |
