That was funny. Especially the intro to the picture, about Pagoda not drawing attention to themselves. he he |

I gotta say, I HATE the practice of advertising charity in this country. I think the practice of anonymous charity is much better. It really makes you question why people do stuff when they have to shout it from the mountaintops that they are being charitable. Those photos in the paper of whole companies doing a human chain, passing charcoal briquettes around is such a stunt. A single guy with a bongo truck can deliver it just as efficiently... Big shows.... |

^^ This
I agree with that sentiment, and I wonder which, if any, of the teachers truly "volunteered" their time or if they happened to be coerced into becoming charitable. Back during the Taean incident my coworkers approached management with the thought of cleaning the beach because it looked like the right thing to do at the time. They got declined until a month later when they were "asked" by management if they wouldn't mind "helping" clean the area Taean. |

The more you proclaim your good deeds the holier you appear, convenient for working your way up the social ladder at church.
In Japan (Christianity wasn't allowed to get a foothold), it's considered unseemly to crow about your charitable deeds. |

Foreigner-costumed-up-in-hanbok-cleaning-tourist-attraction-under-name-of-private-company = major integrity fail.
You wouldn't get me to do that in a million years......especially the k-Disney-hanbok bit.
Plus, the cheonggyecheon no doubt has a hard-working team of paid cleaners......why didn't they clean up an unglamourous part of Seoul which doesn't get cleaned too well? No press interest then, I suppose. |

Pagoda has no integrity to begin with. They use foriegners for some free advertising. What's even worse is that they go along with it. |

I'm waiting for the EPIK to do something similar. |

If the prospect of free publicity encourages big companies to do good deeds then that's fine with me. |

The good deed should have been better applied: say helping at an orphanage or giving lower income children access to free or subsidized class
But that isn't newsworthy |

Yeah, I agree that they could/should have done more - but pretty much everyone is guilty of that. |
