I am deciding between working at a public school or a university. I would prefer a university, but I understand the competition is fierce. If I passed an EPIK interview could I send them my visa documents to confirm a place, but back out if I am offered a university position?
I have two sets of documents so I could send one to EPIK and keep one set for a possible university position. Is that allowed or would my placement with EPIK prevent me from registering with a university?

You are good right up until the time immigration gets the documents for your NOA / visa confirmation application.
Once that NOA/number is issued you are stuck for 90 days (till it expires) before a different employer can apply for another one for you. They are not transferable and you cannot cancel it.

I am applying for EPIK spring and decided I don't mind working in a hagwon since some have November openings. A recruiter told me that it's fine to complete the EPIK app and hagwons would just look at those documents to decide.
My question, I guess, is can schools check my EPIK application? Would that mess up my EPIK chances assuming no hagwons want me? |

How would any Hogwans know that you are applying for EPIK? They can't check your EPIK application unless they have some insider working in EPIK. One thing is don't send any documents to any schools or EPIK untill you've decided for sure you are going to work there. Public schools or EPIK (I don't know which one will recieve the documents) will send your documents back to you, but you don't send them any documents untill you are actually accepting a position at that school. |
