|

Hi
I tried to deposit cash into my Nonghyup Bank account using a NH ATM, and I keep getting a strange result. I'm working through the English menu, and on the screen where it should say something like "The ATM has counted xxxxx won. Do you agree that this is the amount you're depositing?", instead it says some strange number before "won" where the total counted should be- it looks more like a bank account number or maybe gibberish.
I tried making sure all my bills were flattened neatly and put them in face up as shown in the ATM's picture. I also tried three different machines. Tried changing the amount deposited to just a bill or two. Went back the next day and tried again. Still the exact same result.
Does anyone know what might be happening? Thanks for any info.

My first guess would be you have new(or old) bills and the machine doesn't read them?
Korea redesigned their money recently and some machines don't take the new bills. Although, I think most machines now recognize both new and old.
Maybe you should take a picture of said menu so people can help better. |

| Same thing happened to me today. If you click on through to the next screen, it shows you how much is being deposited. |

Thanks for the input Pkang and Highstreet. I went back today. Same thing. However today I noticed that the number that's sitting where the total of counted won should be contains- inexplicably- most of my telephone number in the middle.
I think it's just a programming error. Someone attached the wrong field to that display. And it may be a while before NH finds out, since the people using the English menu are less likely to be able to inform NH easily.
Highstreet, I'm surprised that you pressed "Confirm" onward to the next screen. I mean, that gives permission to the machine to suck the money, even though it has not reported the amount it is promising to deposit, and while it's displaying a clear computer malfunction to boot. Glad it worked for you, but no way I'm going there.
I'm just going to take it to the teller window. |
