In relations to living.

Whats better.. a city with a better potential of interesting jobs.. or a city without the jobs but would be interesting to live in?

P.S.

(Actually Im thinking of between Washington DC and Honolulu as future prospects when I go back to the US next year.. so thats why Im asking).. Wink

But feel free to write whatever you want as to how it relates to you though..

Definantly jobs....

While each location might sound as glamorous as each other you can make anywhere as interesting as you like.

Forget cities.

I have thought about and made the choice of jobs versus location in coming to this island, and in staying for a second year. I'm even contemplating a third, but there's some interesting job options I could pursue.

In the past I have gone to awful places for university and for work, stinky Windsor next to Detroit and frigid small farming prairie town in northern Alberta.

At this stage of my life I prefer location over job. I would rather like my job and love my location (now) than love my job and hate the location (before).

I went to the beach this morning and don't work until the afternoon. I've never had this much free time to work on my art and do my hobbies.

When I get married someday and have children of school age, then location will be important again. Inbetween I will continue to ask the question every year or two: location or job?

Great thread.

There is some point to the go where the jobs are at. You can find everything else once there.

It can be hell to be in paradise but struggling constantly with financial nightmare headaches.

That being said.. Im still divided!

I'd be a location guy. Sweet surroundings kick up a mediocre job & the people you work with tend to be of a nicer disposition. I guess big ambition might require some locale sacrifice but I'm happily unambitious. Get in synch with a pleasant place though & great opportunities can unfold there too.
