About EPIK: http://www.epik.go.kr/EPIK/html/application/Apply_required_documents.jsp#DOC06

Completed Application form... = I can't find it.

A copy of bachelor degree with apostille attached = What does this mean? Is this like the certificate of the degree? Am I able to get multiple copies of this and don't all bachelor degree have a apostille attached to it automatically?

Original sealed transcripts (from the university I guess?) = Do you get these from the university? Are you able to get multiple copies of this?

Criminal record check with apostille = Can I need multiple copies of this?

Two letters of recommendation = What does this even mean? It must be signed with ink???????

So with all the other documents I must have copies as well?

Also what are these documents for... When I send it is this for the process of an E-2 visa?

They also require an interview? Where do you do this interview?

GEPIK questions:
http://gepik-tek.weebly.com/other-teachers-required-documents.html

With the application document do I just fill everything in? Leaving everything in place. Like inside the document it says "PLEASE SEND YOUR APPLICATION WITH ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO YOUR RECRUITER" and has the image of the address, do I keep that in there?

Is it possible to type out the answers on PC and then print it out to tick the boxes by hand or does it all have to be written by hand?

3 Copies of the Signed GEPIK Contract? Where do I get that?

4 color passport photos (must be professionally done, not printed) = What is "professionally done"?

2 different HSF = I only found one on the website

Teach ESL Korea Checklist = Where is this?

TEFL certificate = Do I send the copy of the certificate? A scanned copy?

Are you able to apply for EPIK or GEPIK like a few months before you graduate?

I shouldn't ever send my original degree should I?

Something I don't get with these documents and how the whole process is done. Are all the documents I'm sending for the E-2 visa? Then they find a school which I can work in, then I confirm it, then all the flights etc... are sorted out and I fly to Korea to start working?

Is this how it works? I'm so confused right now.

I'm sorry for all these questions...

I have to assume you are American. You didn't state where you are from and the process is different depending on your country of origin.

EPIK:
Application form from the website when they open recruitment.
http://www.epik.go.kr/

Degree: take the parchment to a notary and get a certified true copy made. That copy is then sent to the Secretary of State for your State to get an apostille affixed to it.

FBI check. You will need one (but it won't hurt to have a 2nd one done).
Make sure when you order them that you indicate in a separate letter attached to the application that you need an apostille on it.
Make sure it has a NATIONAL apostille affixed to it (not a state level one) from the Secretary of State in D.C.

2 reference letters to say you are a hard working, honest soul who is trustworthy.

Scan all the documents and send the SCANS via e-mail to the recruiter.

They will ask for the hard copies AFTER your application has been reviewed (when they begin the actual NOA application process).

Do NOT send the original of your degree or TEFL cert.

Do NOT send hard copies until you have a job CONFIRMED. You will NOT get them back.

It is essentially the same for GEPIK

The interview is done via phone or skype.

The process:
a) apply for jobs. Attached SCANS to your applications.
b) get offers. Pick a few.
c) do an interview.
d) get accepted and get a contract.
e) send hard copies of your documents to Korea.
f) wait for the NOA (notice of appointment) if at EPIK/GEPIK. Visa confirmation number for other E2 jobs.
g) take form/number to the nearest Korean consulate to apply for your visa.
h) book your ticket and get on a plane.

Don't use those websites to apply. Contact a recruiter. Then, talk with the school directly. If you apply from those sites, they will just assign you to a school like a soldier to a base. You will have no choice in the matter.

What recruiter?

@ttomp

Some GEPIK needs some answers as well as they're not all the same.

I heard the recommendation needs to be like 1-2 pages each?

Step 1. Apply for jobs? I thought EPIK or GEPIK searches for you or something?

Dude... it isn't rocket science.

Get your documents in order and scan them:

CBC with apostille.
Degree copy with apostille.
TEFL cert. (apostille NOT needed)
2 letters of reference - single page letters are adequate. Best choices are previous employers or uni profs.
Self medical evaluation (any recruiter website should have a form you can download).
resume
cover letter
scan of your passport information page
passport photos (yes, printed off at a photo shop and not your inkjet).

When you are ready, apply for a job.
http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/

EPIK and GEPIK don't search for you. They ARE the employer for 2 of the largest public school programs. They hire you and place you into a school in their jurisdiction (think national or provincial office of education).

You can also get hired directly by a public school or hired by a hagwon (after school language center or kindergarten language center).

OP you went to University? Because if you after 4 years or so can not figure out how to research or at the least critically think, I think you got ripped off.

Come on it is easy to figure out "professionally". Get it done at a photo studio! Do not do a self-shot with you cellphone and print up with you printer at home.

Also learn to learn google with this site....

add this line to google

site:forums.eslcafe.com/korea WORDS HERE

Please do some more research and it will help you to stop being confused.

My last reply to ttomp before someone goes ham on me.

So I apply for a job and EPIK or whatever helps me get employed to that school?

That website page looks sketchy as hell. Do most people use that job page?

The process is a bit complicated but the fact is, thousands have successfully figured it out. Follow ttompatz's solid advice above & do your homework. If it still seems overwhelming, you might be looking into the wrong line of work.

No. EPIK is NOT a private recruiting agency. For all intents and purposes they ARE the education office who hires you and then puts you where they need you (like joining the army - you join and they send you where they need you).

EPIK is a government agency and has their own website. They have hired some 40,000 teachers over the last decade or so. READ IT:
http://www.epik.go.kr/

GEPIK is the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education
http://cge.ken.go.kr/eng/skin/layout/sub_02/teaching1.asp
Same basics as EPIK.

hint: sites ending in .go.kr are government websites and NOT private agencies.

OP, in a previous post you stated "I mean I am thinking of working in Korea...
After uni... in 4 years time. " - if you haven't even started uni yet, it's way too soon to be worrying about getting your documentation together for EPIK/GEPIK, as the requirements could well change in the next 4 years.

Concentrate on getting your degree first!

ttom ,

you have the patience of a saint ...

If you look at this person's post history, they have been asking stupid questions since March. Rolling Eyes

OP, Google is your friend... another poster up above explained how to use it on this site.

IF you ever make it to Korea, mommy & daddy aren't gonna be here to wipe your nose for you.

I would say good luck, ... but then I'd be lying.

Give this person no more time. Not only are the posts and questions insanely trollish, but even if this person was real - the level of "do it for me" and "think for me" is high with this one.
Not a type of person we want here.

I am trying to help a young woman come to Korea, and while she asks me lots of questions, absolutely none have been anything like this person's "think for me" attitude.

Troll alarm bells!
