I'm completely impressed by how fast and cheap ordering from amazon.com was. I ordered 2 books last week exactly and they just arrived this morning. My order statement said it would take 6 weeks for the delivery ( end of November) so it was a nice surprise to get them this early.

2 really big thick heavy expensive photo books + cheapest international shipping 20$ or so = 1 week delivery and no duty fees. I'm happy.

Wonder how fast express shipping would be...

Books are easy to ship, despite the weight. The problem comes from items that have to clear customs. Any kind of digital media or food stuffs (including powders and pills) take much longer and can be a pain. Other products that are on limited sale here also take a while. Some home products that might be in direct competition with Korean products may even be banned at the moment or at least be taxed up the wazoo.

Another thing I like about Amazon is they now add import fees on items over the customs limit ($120) and pass customs right away. Its annoying to always be contacted by phone/text from customs to send my passport number, photo, etc just to receive a package.

I wish I had a Kindle when I worked in Korea but it hadn't been invented yet.
