I have a criminal court case pending for a driving misdemeanor (car accident that I was at fault for; other driver has already been paid off but waiting to be fined by the court) but I was hoping to go to Fukuoka for a couple of days in a couple of weeks. If this isn't resolved by then, will I likely be stopped at the ferry even though I have a round trip ticket?

People flee from criminal charges and get away with it. I wouldn't worry about it.

Did you actually go to court, or is it all being handled with letters in the mail? Personally, i had a traffic mishap and got fined and all that jazz, but I didn't go to court a single time - just handled it all via mail. If yours is really that cut and dry, I wouldn't worry. If they didn't want you to go, they'd have taken your passport.

Still, the only way you'll get a definitive answer is by calling the court.

Yeah, that's what I was figuring. Yeah, mine is being handled all in the mail. No passport taking, no actual showing up for a court case. I just don't want to get to the terminal and find out I can't leave.

I'll definitely call them. I want to be able to cancel the ticket just in case.
