Topic/poll speaks for itself. Please explain why.

A toss-up between touch and taste for me. Touch is certainly more debilitating, but the thought of going through life and never tasting food or drink again puts me off the prospect of living altogether.

I chose sight. I wouldn't be able to do anything without sight. I think a more interesting poll would be which of the 5 senses would you be most willing to lose. I would chose taste.

agreed, taste would be the easiest to go without; hell I'd probably be able to eat healthier if I couldn't taste my food since there'd no longer be any reason to eat unhealth food, and all that horrible tasting healthy food would be that much easier to swallow.

As for couldn't go without, I choose touch, life without the physical joy of sex wouldn't be worth living.

aren't smell and taste connected senses? if you can't smell you certainly won't taste...

loss of the sense of touch would be pretty damn irritating. not being able to taste my food would be regrettable.

.

I was thinking about that when I made the poll, but try to treat them as separate senses.

They're related but not identical. My sense of smell is almost non-existent, but I can still taste pretty well.

Sorry to sound ridiculously practical, but if you didn't have the faculty for touch then you couldn't even enjoy sensation of some the deepest human experiences....like making love.

I'd have to say that being blind wouldn't compare to the inability to feel a loved one. Shocked

Life wouldn't be worth living without at least sight and touch. You need touch just to move around in the world. Without the physical feedback even things like walking would be very difficult.

No sense of touch = paralasys.

Let's remove it from the poll as it just doesn't work.

Interesting note - there are actually more than five senses.

Couldn't/Wouldn't it just be like feeling numb all the time?

Paralysis is the loss of muscle function, which can be accompanied by sensory loss, but not always. It is possible to feel pain to a certain degree, or not at all, in the area that is paralyzed. A para/quadriplegic can still feel pain on other parts of the body.
