The Camarata Music Company is seeking orchestral musicians for its upcoming concert of Handel's "Messiah". Instruments still being sought after are: Violins, Violas, Cellos, Double-bass, 1 oboe, 2 trombones, 2 french horns, 1 clarinet, 1 bassoon.

The concert is on December 17 at Chungdong First Methodist Church, at City Hall Station. There will be a dress rehearsal on December 16, at 8:00pm, and one/two rehearsals prior to the dress rehearsal (weekend).

The Handel's "Messiah" is an annual event for CMC. Generally the concerts sell out, and are standing room only. Past VIP audience members of various concerts include: South Korean President Myoung-Bak Lee and the First Lady, the US Ambassador to Korea, Chairman Sohn, the Chairman of Korea Chamber of Commerce and CJ Group (owns Dreamworks, CGV theatres, several restaurant chains, etc), the Argentinian Ambassador, former Korean Ambassadors to the USA, United Nations, the IMF (International Monetary Fund), representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce, British Chamber of Commerce, US Embassy, Korean Government ministers, Australian Embassy, New Zealand Embassy, German Embassy, Dutch Embassy, British Embassy, and many more.

Introduction:

The Camarata Music Company is a non-profit organization that provides an opportunity for people, both Korean and foreigners, to perform beautiful classical music together. With the lack of performance opportunities within Korea, we aim to provide an avenue for classical musicians to perform, hone in on their musical technique, build repertoire, and perform. With members from many nationalities (currently 26 different nationalities), we hope to bring many different experiences from people of many different cultures. We also wish to provide more opportunities for the public to hear classical performances, and experience collaborative performances of people from many different nationalities.

Performance:

The CMC Chorale performs 3 major concerts every year, building up to our large Christmas concert of Handel's Messiah.

The CMC Chamber Singers performs numerous concerts throughout the year, including our 4 large concerts. Along with the four large concerts, the Chamber Singers can be seen singing for fundraisers, lecture concerts, various business events, and private parties. The Chamber Singers often collaborate with other top choirs in Korea, to further provide for a mentally and emotionally stimulating concert experience.



The CMC Orchestra is a semi-professional orchestra. The orchestra can be heard alongside the Chorale in numerous concerts, including the annual spring concert, and the Christmas performances of Messiah. The CMC orchestra, beginning in 2012, will be hosting their "Young Artists of the Future" Concert, where one young artist, aged 14 and under, will be selected to perform as a soloist with the orchestra.

We take a step further than the standard repertoire in Korea, and work to perform other works that may not be as popular or mainstream in Korea, even if they are elsewhere. We also perform the classics, offering a variety of music, genres, languages and styles, from Latin masses, oratorio, opera and operetta, musical theatre, and secular classical.

Outreach Vision - CMC believes that music is something that should be shared with everyone, no matter what their situation, especially children. So, it is the vision of CMC to establish a music program in local orphanages and low-income areas. One of the ultimate goals of this project is to create a children's choir and orchestra, provide lessons free of charge (in English and Korean), purchase musical instruments for children who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford them, and to provide high-quality performances that are accessible to all.

카마라타뮤직컴퍼니는 한국에 거주하는 외국인들이 주축이 되어 만든 비영리 클래식 음악단체입니다. 2009년에 설립되었으며 현재 29개국에서 온 350 여명이 회원이고, 합창, 오케스트라, 오페레타/뮤지컬 공연을 합니다. 우리말로 '우애, 혹은 동지애'를 뜻하는 'camaraderie'라는 단어에 기원한 카마라타뮤직컴퍼니(Camarata Music Company, 약칭 CMC)는 외국인과 한국인이 음악을 통한 기쁨을 나누고 우정을 쌓으며 수준 높은 음악 공연을 함께하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있습니다.

저희의 설립취지는 첫째, 수준높은 클래식 공연, 둘째, 국내에 잘 알려지지 않은 다국적 레퍼토리를 소개하는 것, 셋째, 음악을 사랑하는 외국인과 한국인, 전문연주자와 아마추어가 함께하는 소통의 장으로 기능하고자 하는 것입니다.

한국의 기존의 수많은 훌륭한 클래식 음악 단체들에 비해 우리 컴퍼니가 각기 다른 문화권으로부터 모인 사람들로 인한 서로 간의 다양한 경험을 이끌어낼 수 있으리란 기대를 가지고 활동을 시작 했습니다. 같은 레퍼토리라도 다른 국적들의 사람들이 해석하는 색다른 느낌의 공연을 함께 경험할 기회가 많아지고, 음악을 통해 국적을 초월한 공감대를 만들 수 있기 떄문입니다. 음악을 공부하는 학생, 재능 있고 열정으로 충만한 아마추어, 전문 연주자 등 이들은 국적은 물론, 그들의 배경도 다양하여 우리 컴퍼니의 활동을 통해 개인의 음악적인 성장과 더불어 국적과 배경을 초월한 우정을 나누고 각자 삶의 경험을 풍부하게 할 기회가 되길 바랍니다.









주요활동



○ 클래식 음악공연

매년 3-4회의 콘서트를 기획하고 있으며 크리스마스 콘서트로 헨델의 "메시아" 공연을 연말에 정기적으로 하고 있습니다.공연을 통해 잘 알려진 클래식 음악은 물론, 한국에서 연주될 기회가 비교적 드물었던 음악 장르, 언어, 스타일의 레퍼토리-라틴어로 된 미사곡, 오라토리오, 오페라 및 오페레타, 뮤지컬 음악 등을 소개함으로써 국내에서 감상할 수 있는 음악의 범위를 넓히려 합니다.




○ 교류와 소통의 통로

내외국인의 교류와 더불어 클래식을 전공한 전문연주자와 학생, 순수 아마추어가 함께 활동을 함으로써 국적은 물론 클래식이라는 장르 특유의 경계를 허무는 소통의 장으로 기능합니다.




○ 클래식 음악의 저변확대

한정된 계층에 향유되며, 쉽게 즐기기 힘들다는 인식이 있는 클래식 음악을 좀 더 많은 사람들이 함께 할 통로를 연구하며, 소외계층에 음악교육을 제공하여 그 저변을 확대하고자 합니다. 우리의 목표 청중은 클래식 음악에 흥미는 있으나 그에 반해 그 동안 클래식 음악에 노출될 기회가 적었던 사람들입니다. 회원들 개개인이 가진 자원을 활용하여 공연에 드는 비용을 최소화하고, 입장권의 가격을 낮추었습니다. 더불어 저소득, 다문화가정의 자녀들, 보육시설 아동들과 같은 문화 소외계층에 대한 교육프로그램을 지속적으로 제공함으로써 양질의 클래식 공연과 더불어 미래의 클래식 음악 향유자의 폭도 넓히는 데 공헌하고자 합니다. 그리하여 한국에서 클래식 음악 공연의 질적 발전, 저변확대에 이바지하려 합니
