Was offered an interview with this school. This is my first interview offer and I've really just gotten past the 'retrieve documents' phase and into the 'job hunt' phase. This will be my first time teaching abroad so I'm not sure what is 'the norm' with jobs so I figured some of you guys may be better able to 'rate' things like working hours and what not.
Also anyone worked with any of these Kids Colleges before? I'm told they are a chain of schools and that one's reputation may not necessarily reflect any of the others. There are several Kids Colleges on some of the blacklists, but not this one in Ulsan and I've been following the rule of 'take the blacklists with a grain of salt.'
Kids College : this school located in Ulsan. Ulsan is one of biggest coastal city in South Korea and one of populate city from other foreign teachers
Name of the school : Kids College
Starting date: end of March

I turned this job down after being sent the contract about 2 weeks ago. PLEASE make sure you check and double check to make sure you are not given the same contract as I was. I dont know how to link to it but I think by clicking my user name you can see all the posts I've made? Look for the one in the contract review thread and the one about income tax.
My interview with this school was basically a list of my duties and that she (the director) thought my hair was beautiful. When I expressed concern over the contract they put me in contact with a teacher who is currently at the school. Who seemed WAY too positive and replied the second I had emailed him with a veritable essay on how wonderful the school was which seemed a little bit staged to me.
Those were my reasons for looking elsewhere, but that being said the director and the actual position did seem really good, if you can get a decent contract and a 100% not fake email from one of the current teachers you should go for it. |
