I have been working for the afterschool program with the company called KASE. I have been with them for approximately 6 months now. I have recently learned through my partner teacher that the company's contract with the school ends 2 months prior to my contract expiration.

Of course, I had no idea, nor do they bother to tell any of their employees. Obviously I am willing to work those last two months in whatever capacity in order to receive my salary and severance.

But the school hired me knowing that they would never pay me the severance or live up to the full extent of the contract. I have heard today of some similar stories from this company doing this to employee's of the past in order to scam their way out of money.

My question is, does anybody have any good advice for me in this situation. I am sure this situation has happened many times before and I cannot trust what the labor board tells me because it really depends on who you talk to and what time of the day it is.

I completed my contract with them this past August. I was going to renew, but I could not get my docs in time and I had to leave. It has been 2 months since I have worked with them, and I have not received severance. Now I did sign a 2nd year contract, which I technically never completed, so I don't know if it's possible that this would make it impossible for me to get severance for completing the first. I don't know what to do at this point because I received a teaching award from them, and I don't want to have them chew me out over severance to new employers, especially in this job market. What happened with this? What did they say to you?

Nothing has really happened yet. I have requested a meeting with the big boss man through my manager, only to have my manager bullshit me and say he doesn't know what the school will do and I should wait until the last semester. I am guessing they are trying to avoid any bad scenario before they get their money from the parents for the last semester.

I told them I will wait until December, but then I want a meeting.

Did you receive your severance yet? I guess I would wait until you established your new job and then I would fight it to the death.

I got my severance. They took out a little for utilities, but that was understandable. I would just go talk to them. They have a new recruiting manager now. Meg is still there, but there is a new guy called Jacob. I asked where Philip was and they told me he was on vacation. I have a feeling he may have gotten fired. Let me know if you need anything.

That's great to hear you got your severance back. Really interesting if Philip got fired... In any case, I will go talk to them in December when it gets within a 2-3 months of D-day. If I have any questions, I will definitely give you a PM. I will keep you posted anyhow of the outcome. Thanks!
