|
|
I recently broke my E-2 teaching contract to go back to the U.S. for several weeks, and I have returned to Korea on a tourist VISA and am staying with my friend.
One of my friends (who is Korean) has asked me to join a startup company they are about to start in Korea, and I was wondering if that company would be able to sponsor me.
The company has not been started fully, and the level of capital is still very low.
Would I be able to get a VISA for this, or a VISA that would allow me to work at a startup? I'm not sure which category it would fall under or how I would go about doing this.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks |

Your employer will have to proove that the job they are giving you couldn't be done by a Korean.
THere will have to be something unique or special that you bring to the table.
Have your employer talk with immigration about it. |

Why would it be any different than a school that has at least one year in the business? Get documents, E2, and be ready to be paid very little until things hopefully pick up. |

The E2 is an language teaching visa. He didn't mention what kind of work he would be doing. |

You can get an F-5 visa, but only if your friend can prove to immigration that the work cannot be done by a Korean.. Basically that means you'll have to do something with English. |

To work with your friend you would need him to enquire to immigration about legally supporting you with an E-7.
Your chances of getting busted at a Korean company are less than in a hagwon so keep things on the hush hush until the contract has been signed. Keep in mind that you won't have health insurance until this happens. |

hmmm... that would be an E7, not an F5.
F5 is permanent residence.

Precisely..
OP the visa you could get will depend on the job being offered. The company your friend is starting needs to contact the authorities and find out if they can sponsor a foreign worker.
Until thats cleared up, no one can answer this questions for you. |
