I could help you. I am certified to teach French, but I don't live in Seoul. I live in Gwangju. I could recommend some good sources. I've taught French before. PM me. |

Alliance Franaise have a few places in Korea. I'm not sure if they teach in Korean or not - as far as I can remember from when I studied with them in the UK, they hire native speakers only and the classes were taught only in French. My guess would be that the same is true here. |

I can attempt to teach some folks some French via Skype for the selfish reason of maintaining my French. My French is still very good. I can easily have a lengthy conversation in French if I wanted to, but I think I need to get back into it. Why are you all trying to learn French?
Personally, as I said, to a couple in PM, I love Assimil French. The Assimil book has 4 CD's with a dialogue book. If you already know a little French. It's one good resource. http://www.amazon.com/French-Ease-Assimil-Method-Books/dp/2700520130/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1320507625&sr=8-5. At about 33 bucks, it is a bargain. Don't rush through it, don't worry if it seems a little hard on your ear, keep repeating and advancing. You'll find once you've reached say lesson 60, French won't sound when spoken by native speakers as if it's going a million miles a minute. I also really like the old programme called "French in Action". However, it's expensive if you buy it because it includes videos, audio-files. I managed to get the audio-files for free on some website. However, beyond the videos and audio, you need the text books and the work books. It would take over a year to finish French in Action. If you somehow managed to get through video 10 and understand it pretty well, your French is pretty decent.
Oh yes, by the way, there is a great site called Yabla. Yabla has lots of French videos with the English translations. It's also good for those looking for Spanish videos, but you have to subscribe to the French one. There is also something you can purchase somewhere called Champs Elysee. You can look that up.
I like
1)Champs Elysee (don't have it)
2)French in Action (have it)
3)Assimil (have it)
4)Hugo French in 3 months (have it)
5)Yabla (website), have a subscription |

cheers for all the help guys
i went to AF a week ago to check their beginner classes near myongdong but they told me that it was taught mostly in korean.
i'll be heading to paris next march for a short trip and just figured i'd learn some french for it, then i decided it was something i'd like to learn anyway.
ever heard of 'rocket french'? it's an online system that has great reviews but they all seem fake and almost like a used car salesman's approach. |

There are definitely all-French courses taught by native speakers at the Myeongdong AF, though I can't vouch for the beginner level. You could also try a language exchange with native speakers at a university, and there's a fair number of Koreans who speak French that may be interested in a French/English exchange - I've known quite a few who spoke fluently or at least quite well who lamented that they hadn't had similar opportunities to learn/practice English. Maybe inquire at the AF to see if the teacher can ask the advanced students if any of them would be interested. |

I checked out rocket. It's decent. I prefer the audio of Michel Thomas, though. The first 10 CD's. The rocket program is decent. One thing Michel Thomas has missing is something that's written, but he really breaks things down for you. |
