Hey everyone! I raised my voiced at my co-worker yesterday and she backed off for once. I asked about Hostile Workplace Laws in a thread. However, I feel the Koreans like to use American teachers as a pinata and jerk them around. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm glad you feel better, and no one should have to put up with verbal abuse by a co-worker, but some 6-foot-plus tall foreigner yelling at some bad-mouthing little slip of a Korean thing doesn't sound like a "win" to me -- seems like a loss all around.

I hope you are a woman, because a 6-foot-1-inch man yelling at a tiny slip of a Korean woman sounds much too threatening for my tastes -- even if she DOES deserve it.

I'd suggest to avoid raising one's voice or making aggressive gestures while arguing with someone much smaller...it is very easy for the person to claim you were threatening her or trying to intimidate her...wouldn't it be funny if YOU got hit up for creating a hostile workplace?

I am a man. However, I still feel like I'm in a catch-22 situation. This is my first time teaching. She is rude. I've never been rude to her. I take the high road. I want to give her a taste of her own medicine. However, I fear if I do that, then I will get fired and I will go home. Believe me I want give her a taste of her own medicine, but I fear I will get terminated. My co-worker is a woman who is rude, and I wouldn't be surprised if she is psycho. I don't find her attractive at all and I think she has issues. I've told my boss that she is rude and unprofessional, but my boss doesn't do jack squat. I asked her a fair question when I did raise my voice, but (to the best of my knowledge) she hasn't escalated the issue.

I've figured out a plan. There is another employer is who is willing to hire me in February and is willing to pay me almost 23% more than I'm making now. My boss is willing to sign my release letter. So, I'm going to hang on for about two more months, then I will give my boss my two months notice after Christmas. I think that is the best solution to my situation. I'm not going to sink to her level. I'm going to walk away with my head high. Walking to a new employer is my best option. I work for a hagwon.

KPS is about to give me an offer of 2.7 million won per month, which would be a 22.7% increase in my pay that I'm getting now. You can do the math. I would be an idiot if I didn't take the money. I'm not afraid to work hard as long as I'm treated reasonably well.

Believe me I have handled the situation the best I can. Sticking it out until after Christmas, and then giving them my two-month notice is the best option I have. The best option is for me to leave the school and quickly and gracefully as possible.
