|
|
Does anyone know of a legit organization that would allow me to volunteer once or twice a month with North Korean refugees?
If being able to speak Korean is a requirement, I'd be out, so I'm looking for a place where English only is fine.
Thanks for your help! |

I know of one but I don't want to endorse them. I mostly posted this as a warning to you: I'm female and I started working with North Korean refugees and one of them tried to rape me, I was supposed to be there giving him an English lesson.
Just be careful~ |

PSCORE would be the most obvious, but they generally require a weekly commitment. |

was thinking more along the lines of volunteering with children, but thanks for the warning. |

Is it cool for guys to help? I doubt they'd try assaulting me. |

Yes, I know quite a few guys that are helping defectors here.
OP, you may want to try orphanages and the like for working with NK kids. There are a couple of re-settlement places but you have to be Korean to volunteer there. I think PSCORE mostly work with adults. Facebook is your friend for finding opportunities. |

LINK has had its "moments" here as well. I'm not sure if they still have a Seoul branch, but they did years ago. |
