| I live in Anyang, but want to buy a car located in Pohang. Is it possible to buy a car and drive it from Pohang back to Anyang unregistered? Or would I have to go to some registration office in Pohang before driving it back? |

No, that isn't allowed. The owner has to bring the papers (and/or car) to your local car office in Anyang (or wherever you legal residence is on your ARC) and change the paperwork into your name. Then you have to insure it, then you can drive it.
Imagine getting even a fender bender without registration or insurance... Not a smart move.
It may be possible to do it remotely simultaneously, with the owner clearing it out in Pohang and faxing papers to the office in Anyang where you register it under your name. Not sure about that, though. |

| I bought a car 2 years ago and when I purchased insurance for it I had 7 days to get it registered. Once you get insurance in your name it's legally safe to drive for those 7 days. I live in Songpa and bought the car in Nowon. That's what samsung ins. told me ?! |

| I was in the same situation as John (above post). I bought my car in Daegu. Called the Educar insurance. Once insured, I had one week to have it registered at my local gu office. I drove it home and registered it the next day. The person that sold me the car did not go with me and I had no problems. |
