Hello,
I need some advice on how to get my school to agree to move me to a different apartment. I suffer from a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder, meaning that I need a lot of natural light to feel happy and content. My apartment window is blocked by a building and a steel barrier so i get no natural light at all coming through my windows. I also get woken up every morning at 6 by the chiming of the buddhist temple next to me. I am starting to get very sad already and I have only been here two weeks. Every morning i feel like crying and feel depressed. I have spoken to my manager about this but may manager said I couldn't move. How can I get them to agree to move me...because nothing I say ahs worked so far. I can't go on like this.
Please help!
Thanks |

Trying not to be too harsh.... but....
Koreans aren't going to be very receptive to this kind of complaint. Things like seasonal affective disorder aren't taken seriously here. I'm not saying that I don't buy it myself, just speaking from experience. How much time do you spend at home during daylight hours anyway? Go outside and find some place to spend time in natural light.
Also, I have to ask... did you mention your seasonal affective disorder on your E-2 visa health report? If you didn't, it seems a bit unfair to hide it and then complain when you get here that the apartment isn't perfect for your condition. |

Where about in Korea do you teach?
You could always buy a 'natural' light or something similar......
As the poster above said, I dont think your going to have much luck getting a new apt, at a minimim - I would think that YOU will have to put up the key money yourself.......
do you have a spare 10-20 thousand pounds? |

He could easily find converted container "rooftop room" for a few hundred down, and a few hundred a month. Since he's on the roof, he can have all the light he needs. |

this is ridiculous. if you have been diagnosed, then you should have seen this from a mile away. i myself suffer from the same disorder, but i'm smart enough to get on antidepressants when symptoms set in.
you should be able to save enough by not paying for housing to invest in a light box. this is the FIRST solution they will give you if you have SAD. |
