I received quite good advice before on a build therefore I want to see if the same can happen again.
I am looking for a build with a budget between 1M -2M, all inclusive.
It is not primarily a game computer, but it should be a workhorse first.
It should be able to run a windows 7 (32, 64 or 128 bit I haven't decided yet)
I often have several programs running, multiple browsers and Office software. I hate stalling.
My main concern is productivity and lack of noise, and also a computer able to run 24/7.
It should also have wifi capability, since my office network is wireless.
Thx for any input, I am a PC noob, so go gentle on me. |

Including monitor? What size of monitor?
If you want to be able to open two readable windows side-by-side then 27'' is the least I'd recommend. 30'' is preferable.
27'' starts at approx 400,000.......30'' 600,000 + .....

Excluding monitor, you could get a system that would easily meet your needs for around 800,000 (maybe even less)..........so, do you really want to go up as high as 2 mill?? |
No, it is not necessary at all. But I want this machine to run smoothly for at least three years.
I want to go for 27" screen (maybe 2 ....) |

Sorry, I edited my post after reading that you do want a monitor.
The smooth running is in the lap of the gods, but you can ask for parts from brands with better or best reputations if you want to pay a bit more for that.
If you're not gaming much at all then you don't need to spend more than 800,000 on what's in the case...........leaving you a nice chunk for a really good monitor or two.
I'd say though that 1 larger monitor mostly negates the need for two smaller ones as you can open two full-sized windows on a 27'' or 30''.
Also when you're kicking back and watching movie/TV you're going to really enjoy one larger monitor. |

I'll probably start with one 27" and see where it goes from there. |

So, with 24/7 office use and silence in mind, I would suggest the following....
CPU: Intel 2500k..........240,000
Mobo: Any LGA 1155 motherboard will do. You don't need a lot of functionality so don't spend too much.....Gigabyte GA-P67-DS3 would fit the bill at 130,000.
RAM: 8GB of G.Skill DDR3 for 83,000 will insure that you can run multiple programs simultaneously.
Graphics: If you want to save money (and cut down noise) then you can just use the Intel 3000 graphics which is built into the 2500K CPU....enough to run Windows 7 and watch HD video........but if you ever want to game at more than low settings then that will not be enough.
Power supply: Important to get a good one if you want system reliability........Seasonic have one of the best reps in power supplies. Get one of their 500w units and it should run happily and quietly for years. Approx 80,000
For silence you will also want to use a good case and an aftermarket CPU cooler. I'd recommend Coolermaster for both case and CPU cooler.....they make good stuff.
Hard drives are up to you....I don't think you're a speed-freak so you don't need an SSD...........unfortunately conventional hard drives are double price at the moment. Choose as big or as many hard drives as you can afford.
Hope that helps. |

Thank you, you just saved me 2 hours of digging, if we ever meet, I owe you a couple of beers.
I would appreciate a video card though

No probs.
Actually, you can save a little more by getting the Intel 2500 instead of the 2500K..........the K model is more suitable for overclocking which I guess you don't intend to do. You certainly don't need to with that chip.
A video card?
Any Radeon HD6700 series card or Nvidia GTX550 would probably be enough for you.....130,000 - 150,000.......they will allow you to play any game, but only medium or low settings for more demanding games.
If your budget is ample then just get a Radeon HD6900 series card or Nvidia GTX560 ti which will cover any eventuality.......300-400,000. |
