I have already begun my job search for teaching overseas. I am currently teaching in a regular classroom in Alabama as a certified, 7th grade English teacher. However, I do not plan on returning to this position for next year. I have already been submitting my resume and contacting recruiters, but pretty much all the responses are the same: "We applaud your effort of beginning your search 6 months before you can even leave country, but schools are not hiring for June yet (which is when I can start)." Should I just wait a while before applying? I want to get a headstart and make sure everything is in order so that I KNOW I have something ready by then.

Also, between June and August, which is the best hiring time? I will get paid from my current job until August, but I DEFINITELY have to have something by then.

Any positive feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also, I have a CRC from June, 2011. How long does a federal CRC last? If I plan on beginning work in June or July of 2012, will I need to apply for a new CRC in time to receive it and have it apostilled? Thanks again. (I ask because one recruiter said CRC is only valid for 6 months).

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

It's 2011 Nov 16 9:41pm.

DUDE, if you want to come now, send out them resumes. You know what I am sayin bro?

Now, if you want to come later, CBC checks will be expired by then, you know what I am sayin?

So, like think like 3 months in advance, not 9 months. It ain't no pregnancy.

^^^^ pretty much what he said.

Most school positions are not available until 60-90 days prior and in many cases the schools won't know until 90 days before they need the replacement.

Your documents have a shelf life of 6 months from date of issue to useless.
Your FBI check and getting an apostille on it will take anywhere from 3-6 months to complete. If you want to get your visa in July and start work in August then you need to start applying for your documents sometime early in the new year and apply for jobs when you have your documents in hand.

Until you have your documents in hand you are nothing more than 1 more economic refugee from the states kicking the tires and going nowhere.

IF you are looking for an international school job then you are looking in the wrong place.

If you are looking for a position in a public school then you are way too early. They will start recruitment next April (ending in June) for jobs starting in August.

If you want a position in a language mill (hagwan) then start your search about 60 days before you want to go to work.
