So I've tried sifting through the information here and on other websites and I am still lost as to what I need to do to renew my visa.

I've been at the same workplace since March 2010 and am renewing for March 2012. Last week I was given a notice by my school re: documents needed for visa renewal. It stated I need an apostilled copy of my degree and an RCMP criminal background check confirmed by the Korean consulate in Canada.

These are the documents I submitted in December 2009 when I first started working at this school:
-A criminal check from my local police department stating I have no records in the national repository for criminal records. This was then verified and stamped by the Korean consulate in Montreal.
-sealed transcripts (I know these are no longer required for anyone)
-my ORIGINAL university degree.

I still have a photocopy of the CRC with stamp.

When I renewed for March 2011 I did not submit any documents.

I have not been back to Canada for longer than a month since I started working for this school.

Now - must I get an RCMP check done by getting fingerprints in Korea and sending them off to Canada - which then must be verified by the Korean consulate in CANADA? I've been reading that these RCMP checks can take up to 6 months??? I need to get everything done by the end of February.

Are local checks no longer accepted even though they check the national database?

Can I no longer use my original degree? Must I send my degree to my parents in Canada and have them send it off to the Montreal consulate to be verified? And must I have it notarized by a notary public before doing that?

Can any of this by done by the Canadian embassy in Seoul?

I'm sorry for such a long inquiry but I am going nuts here trying to get it all worked out. It seems like such a huge hassle!

I'm really hoping ttompatz or someone else can answer my questions. Or anyone else who has recently done this (getting documents for renewal at the same workplace)

Anyone? Thank you so much!

edit: I work for a kindergarten hagwon, not a public school.
