|
|
Hi Everyone,
From looking at the forum, it appears that the CELTA is the best certificate for teaching anyone from zero proficiency to adult level competence.
Figuring this is true, and that all CELTA degrees are created equal, where is the cheapest place to get a degree?
(I could get my degree when I finish my contract in Korea; I could fly back to the USA and do it there, while living at my parent's house; or, I could go to a less expensive cost-of-living and try there (like Thailand)).
What do you guys recommend? |

The ONLY place to get a degree would be at a university.
If you want a CELTA certificate you can get one for about $2100 (course, room and board) plus airfare in BKK. Rates go from there to up about $2600 in other countries.
ALL CELTA training centers are listed and linked on the Cambridge ESOL website. I assume you are actually able to google it. |

I did mine last year with ECC Thailand. http://eccthai.com/
I think their price is $1440 if you register early. When I did it, they had their classes in Bangkok, Chang Mai and Phuket.
Living expenses were VERY CHEAP as well. I stayed in a decent hotel, rented a motorcycle for the month and all that was another $500 or $600.
When I was doing my research, there was another cheaper one (a little cheaper) in Vietnam but the dates didn't work for me. |

I did mine in Korea because that was the cheapest for me. I was already here and had housing. The ~$500 I would have saved on the price of the course wouldn't have covered the plane ticket and accomodations to do it anywhere else. |
