If you are not from the states, it won't matter much because it only takes a couple of weeks to get it all done.
If you are from the States, wait until you have your documents in hand since it can take MANY MONTHS (4-6) to get them all in order and most jobs are only posted 5-60 days prior to your actually needing to be "in the classroom".
If you are not in your home country (you are working or traveling abroad already) wait till you have them. Again, it will take 4-6 months to get your documents in order (this is for everyone, not just Americans).

It's smart to have all of your paperwork in hand because of the disorganized nature of the hiring process in Korea. |

It will be a plus for you, especially if you are ready to go at a moment's notice. There are some ASAP positions that want to fly someone over within a few days or weeks, so they will obviously not be interested in you if you have to wait a couple of months for the CBC. Also, all employers will appreciate have one less thing to wait on and one less thing that might disqualify you for the job. Just don't wait too long, because the CBC expires after six months, I believe. |
