Do you get up at 5:00 AM?
I sure don't.
I think Koreans are idiots for not having DST.
I would love to have long summer evenings here.
It would only make sense, unless they enjoy the nightlife, or are scared the country will sleep in and become less productive than Japan. |

They had Day Light Savings Time before, but I was told that it didn't work for them and they reverted back to the old schedule. |

Pro-tip: Daylight savings time is for the winter, not summer. No one has daylight savings time in the summer.
Pro-tip: Best to make sure you are not making huge mistakes before calling others "idiots". |

not all Canadians change there clocks actually, Saskatchewan is the only province that doesn't change there clocks. I think its great, long summer evenings are good things to have. 1 hour doesn't really screw up your time clock all that much. takes about a day to get used to it.. |

I think you had better improve that tip book.
Where I come from(east coast of Australia) we have had summer daylight savings time for almost 30 years. |

Somewhere along the way, my memory or one of my teachers failed me. I thought daylight savings was in the winter and summer was the regular time zone. Instead, it's the complete opposite.
How bizarre.
Fun-fact: Where I am from in Canada the sky is a regular bright blue by 3am during the summer (with the actual sun rise about an hour later). Flip side, darkness claims the land by 5pm in the winter. |

I HATE 5AM sunrises here, really messes up my clock. I don't really care about the evening daylight here, if we had the extra hour it would mean sunset would be around 9P. Means we could get an evening soccer game in. In Texas sunset with DST would be around 8:30P so again no big deal
Gord, yeah DST in the winter would be nice for sunsets to around 6 but sunrise would be at like 8:30ish, don't think the parents would want their kids going to school in the dark. When the US went to year round DST to save energy in the 70's parents were irate about having their kids go to school in the dark. In fact for a while we delayed our school day because of that.
In the US some states don't observe DST. Most of Indiana doesnt, thats why they had to shorten the race today they didn't have enough daylight left to dry the track and get the rest of the race in. neither does arizona for some reason. Hawaii doesn't because of its location in the tropics
Korea did do it for the Olympics in 1988 but after that people complained about it so they abandoned it. Its been brought up on occaision but been shot down by a number of factions |

Actually, you would be surprised how many car accidents take place in the springtime due to daylight savings time. That hour can make a driver very sleepy with one less hour in bed the night before. I think SK. is very wise in not having it. Could you imagine the havok it would produce in Korea?! |

That just made me think. I wonder how many accidents here are the result of hungover drivers, or being tired from driving so long in bad highway traffic, or driving to fast to make up from lost time in traffic. Drinking, traffic, tiredness. |

that's why you go to bed an hour earlier than you usually would to make up for the time difference but yeah now that you mention when that time of year rolls around I do hear stats about the # of accidents. I am sure there are enough accidents in Korea without day light savingstime!. Only reason Sask doesn't have it isb ecause the time line splits the province i think.?? i remember seeing a documentary on it on CBC couple years back |

I've heard that it's usually an agricultural influence not to have daylight savings time. Farmers prefer not to have it. In the U.S., the parts of the country that do not observe DST are predominantly agriculturally-dominated areas, such as in many parts of the Midwest. Basically the farmers in those states pushed for no DST. I guess Korea is big on agriculture; maybe that's why. |
