Hi,
I expect to leave to teach some time in the first quarter of next year, hopefully to somewhere near the South Coast, possibly Busan.
To cut a long story short, although I tend to drink very little, I do enjoy going to bars and clubs frequently.
So my query is, what are the Korean cultural norms with regards to alcohol selling businesses during the weekdays?
Do people tend to go out during weeknights?
What time do places tend to close?
What is public transport like late at night; am I likely to be able to get home from the centre of Busan late on a weeknight? (I don't mind walking for 30 minutes if I have to).
Thanks very much for any info!

1) Yes.
2) 2-6am or when all the customers are gone.
3) taxis are common and frequent and cheap. There is nothing else in the late nights.

He asked FOUR questions, ttom. I thought you had answered question 1 with your answer "yes."
OP, you can sum it all up with answering question 1 with YES. If you don't understand it now, you will when you get here. The word alcohol and yes are like twins separated at birth here. |

A helpful anecdote: a bar geared towards foreigners recently opened up near my house (not in Seoul). I noticed that they're always open, and asked the owner how late he has to be there. His answer? 5 AM. How many days a week? Seven days. Why? "It's a bar, we have to stay open until 5." |

Yep. I live in Hongdae. A lot of places around here close at 8AM. At least once a week I see someone walking home wasted at like 9AM on my way to school. During the week. |

For context, this place is in Gyeonggi (Sanbon), and as we all know, it's far from the exception. It's funny that my local McBar (Wa Bar) is the first one to close (at 2 o'clock). |
