|
|
I have a western digital portable HDD. I have used it for four years, and stupidly didn't back it up. The little metal piece on the HDD that connects to the USB cord broke off, so I can't connect it to the computer.
My question is, is this easy to fix? It seems just like a laptop hard drive so it wouldn't be too complicated to get the data off of it. But, the quotes that I am getting at computer repair shops is outrageous, like 100-150,000 won. Is this right? I am not interested in fixing the HDD, just want to get the data off of it.
By the way, if someone knows how to do it, I wouldn't mind paying someone to do it for me. |

If you are absolutely sure it is just the USB connector part is broken and nothing internally then you can probably take external housing apart to find the bare Hard Drive inside. then you can simply connect that hard drive to a PC. |

Yes, just that piece is broken. I popped the drive out, guess I have to figure out now how to get the data off. Thanks |

They do have SATA to USB cables.
Look kinda like this:

Take the picture to Yongsan and ask around the shops that sell a bunch of computer cables. |

I had the same problem last week! I took it to a computer shop and they simply put the drive into a new casing. |
