Does anyone know of any good, reliable companies that I can use to ship some of my stuff back from Korea to Canada in plastic containers?
Do they come to your house to drop off and pick up the containers, or do you need to purchase your own?
Any info would be great!
Thanks. |

Wow, be prepared to lay out the won for those guys. That's the kind of thing executives use when they and their families are taking a foreign post and have a whole house of stuff to move. Also for the kind of people who have a big fat 'relocation allowance' offered by their corporate employer as part of a recruitment package.
Since very few ESL teachers would meet this standard, I would advise you stick with a combination of Korea Post and paying your airline the fees for extra checked baggage. Asiana only charges about $100 USD for an extra suitcase, which depending on its size and your packing skills could be a lot less than any kind of freight shipping.
And really, how much stuff are we talking about? If I were you I would go through things with a fine-tooth comb and think hard about just how much you really care about. I think you'll find most of the things you accumulated here either don't matter much or can be easily replaced in your destination country. Particularly, don't bloat your bags with lots of clothes, they weigh more than you think and are very difficult to compress effectively--jackets and pants are some of the worst; and for God's sake don't be packing up big boxes of books [I love real paper books myself, but come on! You would pay less to buy them again!]. |

I used these guys. http://www.cyhds.com/eng/index.html
I don't know what their web site says but I got a great deal to ship stuff from my door in Canada to my new door in Korea. Only took a month too.
With a discount that was just given to me for no particular reason it ended up being $150 for the first large box and $100 for each additional box. Great service. I had absolutely no troubles. I'm sure they can do the reverse.
They accepted my cardboard boxes or sold them. I don't know about plastic. |

Do Korea Post. I sent back five boxes (about 1m*0.75m*0.5m) by ship (which took about a month per box) for about 25,000 per box. The heavier boxes were a bit more expensive by a few thousand won.
I also sent back my motorcycle gear by air. The same sized box with the same weight was about 70,000 won and took a few days.
They sell the boxes at the post office for very cheap. |

I paid 2 mil for 7 cubic meters, picked up, packed and delivered to Toronto. I was quoted cheaper, but this company seemed really professional and legit.
