Panel fails to cut deficit $1.2 trillion.
Compare cost of war and U.S. deficit.

The super-committee was designed to fail. The default outcome will be sequestration, unless somebody does something to block it. The cuts will be 50% defense and 50% non-defense. It is also now more likely the Bush tax cuts may be allowed to expire. This way the people who struck the debt ceiling deal (Obama and Boehner) can blame congress for not doing what their respective parties want and not been seen as caving to their opponents.
