|
|
The Korean Immigration website says that if you submitted a national CBC this past year and are renewing your E2 with a different workplace, then you don't need a new CBC *unless* you left for longer than 3 months.
I would cut and paste the passage, but the website is being difficult at the moment.
Can anyone confirm if this is the case? I already submitted a national CBC in March, so I'm hoping I don't have to go back to Canada during my vacation to get another one. |

being discussed as we speak... you'll notice the rule is in there but no one seems exactly sure. I called immigration and the lady said I wouldn't need one if I haven't been out of the Country for 3 months but it also seemed that she was just agreeing with me so I wouldn't lose face Although, I was physically in immigration when I renewed my passport and I asked and they said I wouldn't need it also so.... |

If you have them on file with immigration you do NOT need new documents to transfer to a new employer or to renew/extend with the same employer.
That said, you WILL now need a set (copies of the originals used for the E2 are acceptable) for the MOE/POE in the near future.

Thanks for this.
I think I might be switching to an E1, but I might just try and get the check done anyway (just in case). I sent my prints away to Ottawa in October, but my mom has power of attorney and I think she can get one done for me at a local RCMP detachment much more quickly.
I'm guessing I can just go down to immigration and ask them if I can make copies of the documents I already submitted? Fingers crossed... |

Hey Ttompatz, do you know if Immigration will let you make a copy of your CBC? I would have if I'd have known that the MOE would suddenly make ridiculous demands! |

Yes, you can get a copy for them to give to the MOE/POE. |

O.k I've managed to get myself really confused. Here is my exact situation, can anyone confirm for me whether I need to get a new UK CRC or a new apostilled copy of my degree please!! And if so/if not what I do need!!
On February 28th I am finishing my contract with SMOE and accepting a new contract with Gangnam Office of Education, which starts March 1st. I have been with SMOE since March 2010, at the time this was a new visa, although my 2nd visa in Korea. I submitted a British CRC and an apostilled copy of my degree.
Thanks for your help |

For immigration = no.
For the POE (gangnam) = up to them - ask them what they want from you.
The MOE/POE will require a photocopy (not a new set with fresh appostilles) of the apostilled documents when they register you.

Does this apply to all E2's or only workers at public schools? Private hagwons are not governed by the MOE.
Also: I have notarised photocpoies of my CBC but the apostille was attached to the back of the original, so does not appear on the photocopy. Is this still acceptable?
When does this new rule come into effect exactly? January 1st or February 1st? |

ALL E-2's. Private hakwons are not completely governed by the MOE 'tis true...but TEACHERS are (regardless of E or F visa.)
Also the MOE does have some say about hakwons (size and class number, fees) and so on. |
