|
|
I'm in the market for a Korean smartphone and was hanging on for the iPhone 5 but, as an iPhone 4 owner in the UK, the 4GS announcement yesterday didn't really do it for me.
I'm thinking of getting an Android phone but, having had iPhones for the last few years, I haven't got a clue about what the best one to go for is... Is the Galaxy S2 the best on the market? Is there a release around the corner I should wait for etc?
Thanks! |

it really depends on your preference. But keep in mind that most android phones have minor flaws (fast battery drain, cant turn off the shutter sound for the camera) but nothing you cant see past.
I have an Optimus 3-D phone and i love it. Actually since ive had it, im the only person who i saw with one. My gf has Optimus 2X and she likes it as well. The only issue is that sometimes the network is very slow with downloading/internet surfing, but what would you expect
hope you find a good one |

Ive got the Galaxy Ace. It's not the fastest one, but the battery lasts all day with no trouble while running GPS, unless I'm doing heavy web surfing. It also won't run Flash on the internet.
Personally, the battery life is key for me. I'm not a big smart phone person, but it loads and runs the internet at a good clip all the time and it doesn't die on me, so I'm happy. Definitely not the top model though. |

Yep that's what I've gathered so far from my day spent deskwarming looking at phones, I'm tempted to go and get one today but I'm also considering waiting for the Nexus Prime. |

I recently got an optimus 3d also. It is cool once you figure out how to manipulate the battery, last about 36 hrs. with light use and some battery apps installed.
Remeber that LG doesn't charge a deposit, so if you aren't going to be here for more than 2 years... |

A little warning about any Samsung phone. The Phones are fine, but I hated the software you had to use to access the phone on the computer. Kies I think they called it. |

What software are you talking about? My Galaxy Ace just plugs right in and I can use it. Drop music and movies onto it and they run, add other files and use it as a flash drive, no trouble. |

You will need to install the quite buggy Samsung Kies software if you want to things like update your phone's firmware or back-up your contacts list.
But you're right about not needing Kies to transfer video, audio and data files to and from the phone.
Kies usually works for me nowadays. Samsung are slowly ironing out the bugs.
The Galaxy S 2 is an awesome phone. It or one of the new HTC phones would be a great buy.
They're all good. It's not like any of the recent smartphones have any more major problems than any other. They all work great. |

there's nothing that the nexus prime will have on the galaxy s II lte hd. in fact, i'm not sure but i would assume it won't use that delicious new hd 4.5 samoled+ panel that the new sg2 lte HD is using. plus the new sgII is rocking the dual-core exynos processor bumped up to 1.5ghz which i'm also unsure whether the prime will get or not. unless it's cosmetics that are keeping you at bay, i really think there no reason to wait. |

Thanks that's really helpful!
My other concern about the Galaxy is that a friend of mine has one and I noticed that the app store (or whatever the android version is called) is all in Korean, do you know if it is easy enough to get an English language version? |

I can suck down a fresh battery by 2pm on my Galaxy S1. And it takes forever to charge compared to an I-phone. |
