hey,

i've often heard it said that korea is expensive for digital cameras, if that's true, what are my other options? Another country, a shopping website - anything at all appreciated

I'm specifically thinking about buying the Sony DSC-P100, an exceptionally sexy 5.1 mega pixel with nice video features.

if anyone can guide me to the cheapest way to get my grubby hands on it, there'd be a beer or 5 in it for you.

Also, if anyone is out Yongsan way, can they please cheak the price for it if you happen to remember? I live in Daejeon so it's a long way to go just to get a quote.

Prices came down about 6 months ago. Now they are more similar to America, but still not quite the same.

A lot of the crap they sell in yongsan and TechnoMart is "grey market", but they don't tell you that.

Buyer beware. 50% of the stuff I buy from these places doesn't work or quits within 3 days.

I used to direct people to the many shops slightly hidden under the Daehyun building located in plain site of the Nandemun gate.

Now, since prices came down, I tell people to go to Carrefor and Lotte Mart to look too.

Sony cameras are higher here, still. They are good cameras. The Kodaks 3 mega and greater are nice, easy cameras that take good pictures with excellent color. The Canons take the sharpest pictures, and look great too.

What a bunch of crap that is, man. What exactly did you buy so much of that you can say 50% doesn't work? I bought 2 computers so far at Technomart that have been just fine.

Sorry, it's not... here's my list of bad stuff:

1. Three different .mp3 players -- all in excess of 10\20,000 won. I had to try and return two before one worked properly (different models too).

2. An electrostatic air purifier which cost 100,000 won and quit in under 4 months.

3. Two pairs of headphones didn't work when I got them home.

4. A Unitech mainboard with bad sound --- didn't want to rip it out of the computer, so just added an old PCI soundcard I had.

5. Not that this counts... my former school purchased a computer there, and they did not hook up the 2nd CD Burner properly (the did hook up the 1st one though-- it wasn't a burner).

6. A digital cable for my monitor -- didn't work. Was missing a pin.

7. A switchable box for headphones/speakers.

8. This one peeved me off: Bought some Kodak brand digital paper which had been taken out and replaced with cheap quality generic photo paper.

9. A Canon Inkjet Printer which didn't work: returned for HP which did.

..................Shall I continue??? I lived near TM for a year, and did a lot of shopping there.
