SEOUL, Nov. 28 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co., world's second-largest mobile phone maker, said Monday that it will release its latest device the Galaxy Note in South Korea in a bid to tap into a new smart mobile market.
The Galaxy Note to be released on Tuesday is bigger than a smartphone but smaller than a tablet computer, with the latest entry of the company's flagship Galaxy lineup having a 5.3-inch super active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display.
The device also offers a digital pen, called "S Pen," that enables users to write on the screen and runs on a 1.5-gigahertz dual core processor powered by Google Android's Gingerbread platform.

If it fits comfortably into jeans/trousers pocket then I'd love to have one......phone-wise, I think a bigger screen is better as long as it remains pocketable.
Definitely the best phone around for things like car navigation and HD video. |

And it's THIS mentality that I hate with phones. I miss my old Qualcomm 860. The thing was slim yet sturdy, fit into my pocket with no trouble, held a great charge, and had amazing reception. Black and green digital output, twelve characters across, three down, text messaging was possible. I love that old phone.
Now I see my students walking around campus with a device the size of a book to their face to make a phone call, or my guys standing up and literally having to dig the thing out of their pockets...
Don't get me wrong, I find my smart phone to be very useful, but for me, I still went with the biggest screen I could find that still fit in my pocket, in the slimmest possible package. This was more important to me than processor speed, because for me, in the end, it's still a phone and the portability is what's important to me. "Why no, that's NOT a galaxy brick in my pocket, friend..." |

I have a viewsonic viewpad 7. It's half smart phone half tablet. I really like it but no it doesn't fit in your pocket. It's really nice because I can work on things read books or play games or watch movies, and I can use the phone feature. Samsung is a little late coming out with it, but they are nice to have. |

I cannot put my Galaxy S II LTE HD in my pants pocket because of its 4.65-inch screen but I'm fine with it. In fact, I might have gone for the Note instead since it is bigger.
That said, finding protective cases might prove trickier for the Note as well as the newest Galaxy smartphones. |

My students had one of these months ago. I think this is a re-release as it fell flat the first time. |

Does your student have a twin with the IPhone 5?
(the sales of that one must have fallen flat too, because the re-release date won't be until next year sometime.)
Perhaps they took they same time travel machine to get the latest and greatest before the rest.
LOL
or...perhaps you have your technology mixed up...no one has one of these yet.
The UK version of this was released only this past month.
This is the first release of this in Korea...not the same model as the UK version. |

No, I'm sure it was a note. Because I remember thinking "what the hell is a note? I've never heard of that one." it's about twice the size of an iphone or half the size of an ipad. |
