I just had an interview wherein I was told that I will have 30 hours in the classroom as well as 8 hours for administrative stuff.

Doesn't seem particularly outrageous to me, but I wanted to know if that's about average.

Thanks!

Standard for entry level jobs at the big after school academies like Topia and Avalon. Other schools' duties vary widely.

I don't know how you hagwon teachers do it. 30 classroom hours a week?
When do you get a break? At SMOE I did 22 hours, and with Gangnam 24 hours a week. Teaching 4-5 classes a day with them was tough. I can't imagine teaching 6 classes a day, for 5 days.

30 hours in the class and, depending on the academy, anywhere from 0 time up to 10 hours of prep and other related activities is standard.

I've been debating working with IMOE but it would mean sitting on my ass for a few more months here in Canada

Would, I have friends in Taiwan, but the main appeal of going to Korea is that they'll fly me in.
