To make a long story short, I've lost my job, and am hoping to get a new one in South Korea. I will receive a Letter of Release from my current employer.

Do I need to prepare all of the documents I needed for my current E2 (Criminal Background Check, Apostille, Medical Check)? Can I get a new job on my current visa or do I need to start the application process all over again, and submit the same documents? If I do, I would be inclined to leave South Korea for elsewhere, possibly Taiwan.

Can anyone clarify the situation? Thanks.

WITH a LOR and provided you have already submitted a federal CBC with apostille and (photo)copy of your degree with an apostille (I assumed you weren't from Canada - different rules) you can transfer within 30 days of the termination of your employment with your current employer.

If you haven't submitted said documents AND have not had a change of status in 2011 then you have until the end of Dec. to do a transfer without need of new documents.

If you have not submitted said documents and will attempt a new job/transfer AFTER Dec. 30, 2011 you WILL need a new set of documents.

To clarify: I have already submitted the apostille and other documents in the process of getting my current E-2 visa. I will attempt a new job transfer after 30 December.

If immigration has both of the currently required documents on file then you are good to transfer with a LOR.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP I'm quitting my current job and looking at another one that starts 3 months after my current job ends. My question is can I transfer my visa to a new job that starts more than 30 days after the end of my current job, as long as I file the paper work within 30 days, or do I have to find a job that starts within 30 days after my current one ends? Thanks.
