Hey guys,

my contract ends sometime at the end of feb and i want to get my visa changed from an E2 to a tourist visa. i dont want to leave the country. my school is willing to give me a release lease letter so that i can go ahead and speed up the process.

does anyone have any experience with this? if i have a release letter there should be no reason to go to japan, right?

thanks in advance

F

At the end of your E2 you can get a 30 day tourist extension for free just by applying for it at your local immigration office on on-line at the hi-korea site.

http://www.g4f.go.kr/pt/CvlapplInfoDetailR_en.pt?pageSpec=&targetRow=&lafjOrderBy=&onlineApplYn=Y&appcYn=Y&sLOrgnCd=&sSOrgnCd=&sCvlapplNm=&cvlapplCd=12700000095&orgnCvlapplCd=J02&userId=&locale=en

You need your passport, ARC and plane ticket out of Korea.

^If you plan on transferring your E-2 to another job just note that you can't do that if you get the tourist extension. I got the tourist extension from my last visa and ended up having to do a visa run for my new job because of it.
