Are there any trends over the past several years here that just made you shake your head? For the past couple years I keep seeing college-aged people wearing black glasses frames without lenses in them in an apparent attempt to look smart or gentle or something.

Glasses with no lenses (or non-prescription lenses) is a hipster thing. Koreans have also embraced the fixie a little too closely.

The most ridiculous trend anywhere in the world, ever is the one where guys wear their jeans halfway down their legs with their underwear showing. Which I believe started in the USA. Here it has to be the couples' matching pastel polo shirt and shorts honeymoon combination.

Thats a nice list. I'll vote for the pointy shoes. They've fallen off the map since about 10 years ago but that fashion just sat wrong with me.

Nice list flakfizer...you've got a good eye for bad trends. Wink

I'll add the brightly colored effeminate clothes on guys...pink for one.

For those that don't play golf...the latest trend on the course is brightly colored pants...and wow...is it ever popular here in Korea.
The Ricky Fowler look.

For boys:
A few strands of hair bleached (or colored green/blue).

For girls (not ridiculous, but annoying):
Well, maybe it's not a girl thing, but a few years ago the girls would all try to be the first to day "hul!" if something was different in class.

The elf shoes is the one that sticks with me. I kind of stopped paying attention for a while after that. But I had just gotten here and was tripping out about all kinds of stuff and thought that was the damnedest thing.

Although the lens-less glasses are a trip. Hipster roots? Explains a lot lol

North American hipsters also rock this unfortunate look.

Similar to this...Anyone see people in the summer wearing those cheap fabric shoe-slippers, usually red or blue...they look like they're about to have the person's toe punch through...worn without socks, snug fit, the shoe fabric isn't properly adhered at the toe the way a normal shoe is, but looks like its glued on or something and is about to come apart...looks like they're made out of some nylon-canvas hybrid?

The biggest fashion foul I have ever seen. They go with absolutely nothing.

They're worse than the Sex & the City ruffle skirt craze, or Uggs, or leather jackets with zippers, or acid-washed jeans, or those stupid toy dogs, or sorry folks, Converse All-Stars.

In 2006, everyone seemed to have a Ramones t-shirt for some reason.

And every girl had a checkered black and white checkered burberry coat.

Not a big fan of the bangs + perm combo about half of korean women seem to sport.

The new (I swear it started in 2009) sound Korean women started making when they were displeased. "Chhhi!"

Guys with "elf" sideburns...pointy strands of hair hanging down the sides of their face.

Guys in general following stupid trends from the US: polo shirts unbuttoned with a popped collar, the lens-less glasses.

Bunny rabbit ear smart phone covers.

Uggs

Those were popular in 2002 (I remember nearly every high school girl wore them and a few guys as well) and haven't seen them until the recent Korean obsession for them

What's with the current fashion trend of girls wearing pants (or leggings) with patches over the knees? Where did that come from?
