Just got a new job there and will be moving at the end of February.

My new school is in YongHyun Dong (용현동) however, I've heard that is not the best place to live.

My fiance and I want to live near a subway line and be within walking distance to a super market of sorts. Where would you recommend living?

I've heard Songdo is nice, but expensive and a bit isolated.

Other areas I've heard are: Guwol Dong (구월동), Juan Dong (주안동), Kwangyo dong (광교동) and Ganseok Dong (간석동).

Anyone have information about these places? Other recommendations?

Thanks for your help.

Yonghyundong is at least moderately convenient to the rest of Incheon. Most places are walking distance from a supermarket, so don't worry about that. You're just a bit south of the train line, too.

Where'd you hear Songdo is nice? It's a ghost town.

Nothing wrong with 용현동, I lived there for more than 3 years. It is walking distance to a Homeplus and Lottemart. I used to walk to the 제물포 subway station in about 40 minutes. If you want to live near a subway line and work in 용현 I would suggest 동인천, easily accessible to your school, lots of shopping and a express subway to Seoul.

Song do is not a ghost town, don't believe the hype. It was ghost town-ish up until the beginning of this year, but a huge number of apartments opened up through the spring and summer, and it's just like anywhere else in Incheon, just cleaner and better organized. It is a great place to live, on a subway line, lots of parks and people. On top of that it has two Universities, a college, the international school and the Global University Campus, which will have the College of Business Stony Brook University.

The area is a little on the pricy side, but I couldn't imagine living anywhere else anymore. My brother-in-law lives in 용현동, and whenever we go visit we feel that the old neighborhood is nice, and we know everyone there, but it is so old and crowded that we prefer Song Do.

Inha University is in the area and its has a restaurant/bar nearby that is known for its low prices. There is a Homeplus nearby. Because of the university, there is a shuttle bus 511 that goes to Juan station. It runs really frequently and it is about 15-20 ride to the station.

I have lived here for about 6 years..

Guwol Dong has more to offer in terms of bars and has an Emart and a bunch of fastfood places....Lotte/Shinsaegae/New Core Department Stores...and access to the subway line and bus terminal.

Juan Dong (주안동) and Ganseok Dong (간석동) are right next to each other. I live in Juan, and it's pretty nice. Guwol Dong (구월동) is a little more convenient when it comes to nightlife and having Homeplus and Emart a stone's throw away, but it's only a 5,000 won taxi ride away from where I am. I prefer Juan, because the train runs express to Seoul, so I can get there in 35 minutes, if I time it right. Also, there's a nice Homeplus a 10-minute walk away.
