Is this too crazy in terms of traffic, prices, accommodation, etc?

Also, anyone know of like an American style cabin/condo type of lodging for 5-10 people? Thanks.

If you can afford it I'd say a flight to BC and a trip to Whistler Blackcomb for some real skiing is in order.
