I went a few weeks ago. Go early in the morning or you'll wait an eternity for the ferry (you don't book it; just show up). There's only one hotel on the island, but you can see everything there is in a few hours, so I don't see why you'd want to stay overnight. Oh, and the Italian restaurant on the island is awesome. Seriously, I can't recommend eating there enough. |

the japanese place however, had the worst curry i've ever had. even worse than the powdered stuff that comes in a bag that i made using random ingredients on a drunken evening. everyone in my group thought the food was atrocious.
be prepared for a bunch of people hanging around wanting to recreate the winter sonata scene, especially if it starts snowing. |

Second this, also due to the cold weather it really could ruin your trip if the last 2 hours are spent waiting in the cold for a ferry.
Also there are a few hotels in the neighboring town of Gapyeong ranging from w40,000 up, which is standard for a LoveHotel. |

Over-hyped? I've never heard anyone hyping it up ever! |

I went several years ago and thought it was stupid. But I didn't eat at any restaurants. And they did have Tootsie Rolls. |

I'm going by the three hour line for the ferry when it takes about thirty minutes to exhaust what the island has to offer. |
