I'm using an older HP slim-form PC as my media center on my HDTV. The PC doesn't have a DVI or HDMI output, so I'm just using the standard VGA monitor cable to hook up to my TV. It looks fine, but not great. How much would a half-decent video card with a DVI or HDMI output cost at Yongsan or GMarket?
Also, can a slightly older PC even handle a video card with those kind of outputs? The computer is running an Intel Core2 Duo E4500 processor (2.20 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB). It also has the Intel Q35 Express Chipset, if that matters. It also is running with 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM. The specs for the computer also say is has 1 low-profile PCI slot, 2 low-profile PCIe x1 slots and 1 low-profile PCIe x16 slot.
The specs I found on the HP website also say: "2 full-height PCI via optional riser card. With riser card option, PCIe x1 and PCIe x16 slots are not accessible." I'm not sure what that means.
Any suggestions and/or help would be greatly appreciated. |
